Methodology & sources
How Payqube turns shifts and OT into a planning estimate.
Payqube provides estimates for planning. It is not payroll processing, tax preparation, or tax advice. Always confirm your actual pay and withholding using your pay stub and employer documents.
What this page covers
- Inputs that affect your estimate (pay schedule, hours, overtime, job count).
- Assumptions we use when details aren’t provided.
- Sources we reference for U.S. payroll concepts.
Scope
The landing-page demo uses illustrative scenarios to show the concept. It is not a full payroll calculator. The full product may include more settings (state, filing status, pre-tax deductions, benefits) to refine estimates.
What we estimate
- Gross pay from hourly pay × hours (including an overtime component where applicable).
- Withholding/taxes as a planning estimate based on your settings (when enabled).
- Take-home = estimated gross minus estimated withholdings and deductions.
Federal withholding (when enabled)
Federal income tax withholding is intended to follow IRS employer guidance (for example, Publication 15‑T) based on the user-provided inputs. Differences can occur due to employer payroll rules, rounding, pre-tax items, and local taxes.
Overtime
Overtime rules vary by employer and state. Payqube’s goal is to make your “what-if” scenarios easy to understand and adjust. If your employer calculates OT differently, you should align settings to match your pay stub.
Sources (public references)

Limitations
- Employer-specific rules (benefits, garnishments, retirement, union dues) can materially change take-home pay.
- Local and state taxes vary; accuracy depends on your configuration.
- Rounding and pay-period boundaries can cause differences.
